Wilbur Klein
WILBUR KLEIN
Wilbur is the descendant of the German immigrants who brought so many benefits to their adopted country. He is the son, brother and nephew of Lutheran Church pastors in SA and WA, and is every bit as committed to his calling as they are. This pioneering background, and his own long experience as an educator and a farmer in two States, give him a standing in this widely spread community, with its ongoing challenges of water supply and services. Wilbur’s wife Monika is his campaign manager; a former policewoman in WA, Monika is a member of the SA Regional Communities Consultative Council. She and Wilbur and their four children live at Cockaleechie, near Cummins on the Eyre Peninsula, although three of their children are currently seeking further education away from home. Wilbur’s campaign was launched
in Port Lincoln, and has been approached using the simple belief of “Putting People First”. Wilbur has a strong sense of social justice and is fighting to make sure rural and regional people receive the support and services form government they deserve. Wilbur has been involved as a volunteer in communities including service in the Country Fire Service, ambulance, tidy towns, musical productions, youth groups, community fundraising, school councils, and church. He plays guitar, sings and writes his own music, plays in a local band, and is often seen around the community playing in concerts, old folks’ homes, speaking to community organisations, and supporting community musical activities.
Wilbur has a passion for people and has always put them first. His ambition is not to win an election but to win the right to serve others. He’s certainly a big man with a big heart, a man with a big smile, and a man who will stand up and speak loud and clear for the people of Grey.
